Greenbelt operates a 10-tonnes-per-hour indirect-fired Thermal Desorption Unit at its waste management facility in Warri, Delta State. The unit was manufactured by Global Thermal Solutions (GTS) and installed in 2017, commissioned in 2018. It is designed for the treatment of oil-based mud (OBM) and hydrocarbon-contaminated wastes.
The process uses indirect heat at operating temperatures up to 1000°F to separate hydrocarbon and water fractions from the waste stream. Vapours generated during heating are recovered through condensation, yielding recoverable base oil. Treated solids are reduced to ash. Water recovered from the process is reused by the unit for temperature control.
The unit is a fixed facility installation and is not mobile. The current configuration operates without an after-treatment emissions control system: Greenbelt manages environmental performance through operational controls and regulatory compliance.
