TECHNOLOGY — THERMAL TREATMENT
Indirect-fired thermal treatment of hydrocarbon-contaminated waste streams, recovering oil and water from treated solids at Greenbelt's Warri facility.

Greenbelt's Thermal Desorption Unit (TDU) is an indirect-fired thermal treatment system designed for the treatment of appropriate hydrocarbon-contaminated waste streams.
At Greenbelt's Warri facility, the system is used for the treatment of oil-based mud and associated materials, separating recoverable oil and water from treated solids through controlled heating and condensation.
The technology provides a treatment that can support hydrocarbon recovery, waste volume reduction and the controlled management of treated solids, subject to the characteristics of the waste stream and applicable operating requirements.
Appropriate waste stream enters the treatment system.
Material is heated within the thermal treatment process.
Hydrocarbon and water components are separated from the solid matrix.
Generated vapours are directed through the applicable condensation and control system.
Recoverable oil and water are collected for appropriate reuse or management, subject to specification.
The remaining solids are treated or inerted to the applicable target.
Treatment performance and resulting material are evaluated against the relevant requirements.
Confirmed parameters and measured results. Anything Greenbelt engineering has yet to close is absent rather than estimated.
